Providence High School Charlotte, NC has received another accolade from the NC Superintendent of Education, June Atkinson: Providence is the 2nd highest ranking school in North Carolina in 4-year graduation rate, based on schools with between 400 to 499 students in the class, with a rate of 94.61%. This is quite an accomplishment for a high school of this size, with over 2,000 students in total. The #1 school in North Carolina is Green Hope HS in Wake County, with just a slightly higher graduation rate at 94.7%. North Carolina reached an all-time record high 80.4% graduation rates last year.
The 4-year graduation cohort rate is calculated by taking the total number of students who graduated and dividing by the number of students who entered 9th grade together 4 years ago. Two Union County schools took top honors in the 300-399 student cohort: Marvin Ridge High School had a 100% graduation rate, and Weddington High School had a 97.4% graduation rate.
