Providence Spring Elementary School in South Charlotte was named a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School by the US Department of Education on September 24, 2013. Only 236 public schools and 50 private schools in the entire country achieved this honor, including just 6 schools in North Carolina. The National Blue Ribbon School Program recognizes schools that consistently make progress in closing the achievement gap and that help all students achieve academic success at very high levels.
